Sunday, June 6th, 2004

Primed right fuel tank Z brackets. The whole session was 2 hours, but most of the time was spent on the aileron stiffeners.

Primed aileron stiffeners

Sunday, June 6th, 2004

Primed aileron stiffeners. It was threatening to rain all day and of course started right as I was finishing the priming session. I ran everything inside. I’ll touch up a few parts, but almost all of them turned out fine.

I spent most of the day installing a fan for the garage attic. Since installing the insulation in the garage ceiling for warmth last winter, it’s also kept the garage much cooler on hot days. The problem is that we store stuff in the garage attic, and it now gets well over 100 up there. Thus, I’m putting in a fan that will turn on when the temp gets too hot and kick the hot air right out the side of the house.

Clecoed right fuel tank ribs

Started working on the right fuel tank. I clecoed the fuel tank ribs into the skin (with some help from Julie) and drilled and countersunk the Z-brackets for the plate nut attach rivets.

Deburred aileron skins

Saturday, June 5th, 2004

Deburred the rest of the holes in the aileron skins for the stiffeners. I mainly did this just to clear the ailerons off the bench. I’ll continue working on them later.

Drilled right leading edge

Saturday, June 5th, 2004

Drilled the rest of the right leading edge.

Adele also helped out deburring some of the right wing ribs. She seemed to really enjoy deburring, probably just because she was avoiding going to bed.

Drilled right splice plate

Friday, June 4th, 2004

Removed the right bottom skins, clecoed on the leading edge, installed the funky inboard leading edge rib and splice plate, and drilled (almost) everything to final size. I’m barely spending any time on this wing, but it is really flying (excuse the pun).
